We are pleased to share that we have co‑authored an article with the Saudi British Joint Business Council (SBJBC) on Saudi Arabia’s new real estate reforms. Our joint piece provides a practical overview of the latest legal and regulatory developments shaping the market and what they mean for companies, investors, and individuals engaging with Saudi real estate.
Why this matters now
Saudi Arabia is entering a pivotal phase of real estate reform aligned with Vision 2030. At the centre of these changes are two core developments: the Law of Real Estate Ownership by Non‑Saudis, scheduled to take effect in January 2026, and the rental regulatory provisions currently in force. Together, these reforms are designed to increase market transparency, broaden participation, and support sustainable growth across residential, commercial, and mixed‑use segments.
What the article covers
The article explains the key features of the reforms, what has already changed, and what is coming next. It highlights the practical implications for market participants, compliance touchpoints for landlords and tenants under the rental framework, and transitional planning ahead of the 2026 commencement date. We focus on risk‑management and execution, offering clear takeaways for legal, compliance, and business teams preparing for implementation.
